The songs on this soundtrack, due out Tuesday, are folk-based ruminations on broken hearts and suicidal thoughts. It contains a number of previously-released gems from artists like Lori Carson ("Black Thumb") and the Cowboy Junkies ("Something More Besides You") and unheard material from Patty Griffin in the raucous "Mary." Other gems include the moody instrumentals "Niagara Theme" and "At A Crossroads" from the Junkies' Michael Timmins and the gospel-flecked "Black Sheep" by Martin Sexton. Even without the context of the film, "Niagara, Niagara" is a solid collection.
